Miroshnik: Lukashenko voices what many are not ready to talk about in public

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, is distinguished in voicing what many are not ready to talk about in public – as noted by Russian politician Rodion Miroshnik, commenting on the meeting of the presidents of Belarus and Russia and Aleksandr Lukashenko’s statements about the unacceptability of Ukraine joining NATO in parts

In the so-called ‘Wagner case’, Aleksandr Lukashenko proved himself to be the most effective negotiator, Rodion Miroshnik underlined. According to him, Belarus is now using the competencies of PMC Wagner to train its special services, and the very presence of a private military company on the territory of the republic is an unnerving factor for Poland, especially in light of statements about Wagner’s desire to ‘go on an excursion’ to Rzeszow and Warsaw.

“When Aleksandr Lukashenko stresses that the control of Western Ukraine by the Poles does not suit Belarus in any way, this is also such a serious transparent hint that the Poles have nothing to do in the west of Ukraine. There’re already enough aggressive-minded Poles on the western border of Belarus. Belarus will never forget how the Polish side participated in the events of 2020, when there was an attempted coup d’état, an attempt to ‘overthrow’ the President, to prevent a full-fledged election on the territory of Belarus: the Poles didn’t simply participate in this, they completely got into it,” said Rodion Miroshnik.

In this situation, he noted, the nuclear weapons transferred to Belarus and the statement of Russian President Putin that Moscow would regard aggression against Belarus as aggression against itself are a guarantee of the territorial integrity of the republic.

“I think there are no suicides who want to poke their noses there [to Belarus], realising that they will immediately be ‘worked out’ by nuclear weapons. And now such a ‘dagger’ is being added there – but not a missile one, but such a weapon ‘under cover’ called PMC Wagner. So [ill-wishers] be afraid, everything can be implemented, and here no one will give any guarantees [to the opposite],” the expert concluded.
