Reuters reports that, during a conversation with Swiss Economy Minister Guy Parmelin, Microsoft Vice Chairman Brad Smith said that Switzerland had created ‘one of the world’s leading innovation ecosystems, blending world-class research with real-world applications’.

According to the news agency, the investments will be spent on expanding and modernising the company’s four data processing centres in the Geneva and Zurich regions. The project takes into account the growing demand for cloud services and AI technologies, as well as the need for domestic data storage, particularly in the financial, government and medical sectors.

Microsoft also intends to increase its partnership programmes with small and medium-sized enterprises and strengthen its educational initiatives on the use of digital tools and neural network technologies.
