“The management of the Minsk Automobile Plant together with representatives of the Smolensk Region government determined further steps for the implementation of this project,” the media centre said. “The future centre will become a logistics hub combining production of vehicles, technical service and pre-sale preparation.”

In October 2024, the company announced that a roadmap for the establishment of a production and service maintenance centre for MAZ machinery in the Smolensk Region would soon appear. In early autumn, the signing of an agreement between the Russian region government and MAZ Director on the creation of such a centre was reported by Smolensk Region Governor Vasily Anokhin. According to him, the document was signed as a follow-up to the agreements reached at the 11th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia. The regional government promised to provide comprehensive support in the implementation of the project. In its turn, MAZ noted that the appearance of the production and service maintenance centre in Smolensk will allow to increase the production potential, create additional jobs and become a powerful stimulus for economic development.

The Minsk Automobile Plant is the flagship of Belarus’ automotive industry, specialising in the production of cargo, passenger, trailer and special equipment. The company manufactures about 500 models and modifications of on-board and all-wheel drive vehicles, dump trucks, chassis, tractors, timber trucks, trailers and semi-trailers, cranes, special equipment, alongside about 15 models of buses, trolleybuses, and electric buses.
