Lukashenko told where to get money to settle all climate problems

To solve climate problems, it is necessary to stop all wars and conflicts on the planet, the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, told reporters on the sidelines of the World Climate Action summit, BelTA reports

“Everyone is looking for sources of financing to reduce greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere. It’s easy to find. We must first of all stop wars, conflicts on the planet and everything that accompanies it. And we will find about $5 trillion (this is five times more than we are trying to find today in order to reduce emissions),” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.

The Head of State noted that Belarus fully fulfils its obligations under the Paris Climate Agreement and even exceeds them. “If everyone works like this, we won’t need summits,” the President added.

Foreign media representatives asked the Belarusian leader about his position on the conflict in Ukraine, noting that Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not arrive at the summit.

“Ukraine was invited. Volodymyr Zelenskyy should have been here. He may still be on his way. The forum is not over yet: he will come,” Aleksandr Lukashenko responded.

Speaking about the prospects for peace in Ukraine, the Belarusian leader addressed the speech of his Brazilian counterpart (Lula da Silva pointed out that the $2 trillion spent on weapons last year should have gone to fight hunger and climate change, not wars).

“If all the leading powers of the world, the main players who are interested in ending the war in Ukraine, think like Brazil, there will be no war,” Aleksandr Lukashenko is convinced.

During the President’s interview with representatives of various foreign media, co-operation between Belarus and Africa (the Head of State called this a new trend for the republic), issues of hydrocarbon production and the Middle East crisis were also touched upon.
