Lukashenko on western sanctions: we won’t die, we will live, and we’ll live better and better every day

The Head of State, Aleksandr Lukashenko, is confident that Belarus will continue to develop despite western sanctions – as he told to British BBC in an interview, BelTA reports

"The whole world has seen what you are really like. And you saw it on the border [the talk is about the refugee crisis on the Belarus-EU border – BelTA’s remark]. We will find partners and allies without the Great Britain. We didn't actually co-operate with you much anyway before. We won’t die. We will live, and we’ll live better and better every day because we have countries we work with, huge countries. And whatever we need to sell – we will sell, despite your sanctions," the President said.

At the same time, he noted that sanctions are not needed by either side, "I am not an idiot, of course, and I realise that you don’t need these sanctions, and I certainly don’t need them. But if you start talking to me in the language of sanctions and don’t recognise my legitimacy, then fine. I say again: a quarter of a century, I'm used to it already."
