Lukashenko on future of microelectronics: the most important is to know where to go and what to do

Today the President of Belarus is visiting Planar JSC in Minsk. The Belarusian Head of State was informed about the development strategy of the holding’s enterprises, work on import substitution, new investment projects, and co-operation with Russia. Planar’s Director General Sergei Avakov said that the enterprise pays special attention to the production of photomasks, without which it is impossible to make a single microcircuit. Moreover, these items are of the highest quality, meeting the world standards.

“We have seven types of equipment,” Sergei Avakov explained. “For each type there is from one to five competitors. They are located in the US, Japan, in some EU countries. The level of production localisation is from 65 to 80 percent. We have our own optical production, stone processing and precision mechanics.”

Another direction for further development is the production of equipment for semiconductor wafers, with work currently underway to upgrade the production base in co-operation with partners.

Sergei Avakov also spoke about plans to modernise production, “We have mastered many new technologies in optics and precision mechanics. Now our task is to expand production.”

“The most important thing is to know where to go and what to do,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

The President visited the production facilities, where he was informed about the holding’s most popular products and promising developments.
