Lukashenko: NATO ultimately consolidated anti-Russian and anti-Belarusian vectors

The North Atlantic Alliance has ultimately consolidated the anti-Russian and anti-Belarusian vectors – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, at a narrow-format session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in Yerevan, BelTA reports

Aleksandr Lukashenko recalled that the parties had already discussed the pain points and problems emerging in the world – primarily, at the SCO summit in Samarkand and then during the CIS summit in Astana. “We are also no exception. Therefore, I believe that today's meeting will become a continuation of the dialogue started in Samarkand and Astana regarding its content. It is now time to discuss in detail the issues of military-political co-operation and security provision within the CSTO. Their topicality is all time increasing,” the Belarusian leader said. “It is no coincidence that we have held four meetings this year – both in the video conference format and in person. Unfortunately, we have few reasons for optimism so far.”

The President of Belarus recalled the thesis that the unipolar system of the world order is irrevocably going into the past, “It is objectively doing this – whether we want it or not. It is going into the past, and it will disappear. This process is provoking a crisis of the system of international relations, boundless in its depth and scale, with many painful points around the globe. Sadly, a number of these points are located in the European and Eurasian space, including in the CSTO area of responsibility.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to what is happening in the European region now. According to him, the North Atlantic Alliance has ultimately consolidated the anti-Russian and anti-Belarusian vectors of its activity for the foreseeable future, and it has broken all contacts upon its own initiative.

"Under the pretext of deterring the allegedly aggressive behaviour of Russia and its allies, a systematic build-up of the military presence of the United States and other NATO countries at the western borders of the CSTO, that is at our borders, is being observed. The West continues to transfer troops, weapons and military equipment to the eastern flank of NATO. The intensity of their operational and combat training activities is increasing. What is this, if not the development of a potential theatre of operations?" the Head of State wondered.

In this regard, the President called the recent decision to deploy a regional grouping of troops of Belarus and Russia a natural reaction to the existing challenges. “The countries – that strive to follow their own path of development and pursue an independent foreign policy course – are under the most severe pressure. There are also attempts to put international organisations, including the UN, under control. The cost of armament is growing at an unprecedented pace, reaching terrifying values. The NATO governments – instigated by Washington – are willing to spend billions [of Dollars] on an allegedly growing threat from the East, while stimulating the US military–industrial complex,” he stated.

As noted by Aleksandr Lukashenko, all this is happening against the background of concerned statements by some representatives of these states about the impending problems in the field of global food, energy and other security.
