Lukashenko met with UAE President in Abu Dhabi

The second negotiations at the highest level in just one week took place on February 2nd: the Head of State moved from Africa to the Middle East to meet with the President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, at the Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi, BelTA reports

The Belarusian leader was welcomed by the UAE President near the car at the residence. After a brief greeting, with sincere strong hugs, the two leaders set off for negotiations.

“Mr. President, I am too frank, so you know what I think of you. I have always had the highest opinion of you and your friends,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed at the beginning of the meeting.

“The United Arab Emirates is not changing,” the UAE leader replied.

“It is changing for the better,” retorted Aleksandr Lukashenko.

The meeting of the presidents of Belarus and the United Arab Emirates lasted about four hours.

One point deserves special attention: the UAE leader invited his Belarusian counterpart home, and their meeting enjoyed an absolutely friendly atmosphere – first, in an expanded format, and then as one-on-one talks.

The Belarusian President’s eldest and youngest sons took part in the meeting, which added special confidence to the negotiations, and this also indicates the special nature of the relationship – truly friendly.

In general, during the meeting, the Belarusian and Emirati leaders agreed on co-operation in more than a dozen areas: in the field of trade, economic and investment co-operation. An emphasis was also placed on the humanitarian sphere.

In line with the agreements, a large delegation of specialists will arrive in Belarus in the near future, and they will work out specific issues in the outlined areas of co-operation.
