On December 25th, the Head of State will take part in a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in St. Petersburg. The summit agenda includes more than two dozen issues, including those related to key areas for further development of integration processes in the EAEU, international activities, macroeconomic policy, work to eliminate barriers, reduce exemptions and restrictions on the EAEU internal market.

On December 26th, Aleksandr Lukashenko will take part in an informal meeting of the CIS leaders.

Speaking at a meeting of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council in Moscow on May 25th, 2023, Aleksandr Lukashenko supported the initiative of the Russian presidency to identify approaches to the formation of a new strategy for the development of Eurasian integration until 2030, as well as until 2045.

At the same time, the Head of State voiced a warning against excessive enthusiasm for strategic planning. "At least, this useful work should not cancel or replace the practical activities aimed at the implementation of the goals and objectives of the EAEU Treaty, which are being conducted by the member states and the commission already now," he said. “The creation of a full-fledged economic union remains a priority for all of us. Everyone notes the progress on this issue, but my position remains unchanged: there should be no barriers or restrictions at all! This is the basic principle of building our union, and we must achieve this goal as soon as possible."

In his speech at the summit in Moscow, Aleksandr Lukashenko also said that the increased interaction with the SCO, BRICS and ASEAN, the conclusion of new trade agreements and constructive mutually beneficial co-operation with all those who are ready for this should become a response to the sanctions pressure. At the same time, the potential of the Eurasian Economic Union allows it to become one of the full-fledged and responsible centres of the new multipolar world.
