Lukashenko: everything must be done to ensure woman’s happiness, which lies in having children
The country must create all the necessary conditions for women to have the opportunity to give birth, President of Belarus Aleksandr Lukashenko highlighted during a discussion of the draft Decree On Conducting In Vitro Fertilisation, held on March 20th
Addressing the participants of the meeting, the Head of State firmly emphasised that children are sacred, “You know my attitude towards children. Therefore, as President, and you as my subordinates, we must do everything (not only during the Year of the Woman) to make women happy. And what happiness does a woman have if she has no children? So children are the happiness of our women. We must do everything so that they can give birth. This is the main thing — both for the Year of the Woman and beyond, throughout their life. So let’s proceed from this.”
The President also stressed that the issue of IVF should be addressed thoroughly and decisively, “In some places, specialists or the church have suggested something. This must be a complete resolution of all issues.”
Aleksandr Lukashenko also added that he had instructed to introduce a ‘more liberal solution’ — in this case, to develop a draft decree that would respond to women’s concerns.
