Lukashenko: education system needs to be fully refined this year
At today’s meeting on topical issues of the BSU activities, the President of Belarus reminded of the task to complete all measures to improve the national education system this year
Aleksandr Lukashenko invited those present to a frank conversation, “Let's, as people used to say in Soviet times, discuss in a friendly way all the problems that exist in the system of higher education, since all the rectors of our universities are present here. I will be grateful to you to be reported on any comments regarding education in Belarus in general. This is a hot topic these days. For me, this is one of the most important issues that should be definitively and irrevocably outlined this year.”
The President stressed that the system will be improved, and he addressed the meeting participants, “Being educated persons, you understand that there are no frozen processes in life at all. We will move forward in this regard… I think, education is the most important thing for a person. It is on the top, followed by everything else. The most important direction of my work, and of the Belarusian authorities – including you, perhaps even you most of all – is rooted in this aspect. This year, we should finally refine our system, determine in which direction we will develop, so that neither parents nor our society painfully react to any innovations in the development of this direction: the education system. Therefore, I urge you to share thoughts frankly. If you are real [persons who share a common goal in education], then you will openly, calmly express your opinions, wishes, and criticisms.”
