Lukashenko drew attention of CSTO colleagues to the premonition of global catastrophe that gripped the world

The world today is primarily worried about the premonition of a global catastrophe that has gripped the world – as stated by the President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, during the CSTO Collective Security Council session

The Belarusian Head of State noted, “The world is worried about the premonition of a global catastrophe, that from the spark of a regional conflict the flame of a new world war could flare up. This is talked about often and a lot. Those overseas are just waiting for countries close to the line of the CSTO zone of responsibility to be drawn into it. This so-called controlled chaos is what the US and the West want.”

At the same time, the President drew attention to the fact that NATO neighbours are arming themselves at a rapid pace on the western flank, “For example, Poland’s military budget is growing by leaps and bounds, promising to reach 4 percent of GDP next year. I wonder how this matches with their constant declarations about the alliance’s defensive nature or with the name of the announced NATO biggest military exercise since the Cold War [Steadfast Defender]? This doesn’t match in any way.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that we have been observing such ‘defensive’ manoeuvres for a long time, ‘from the moment when nuclear weapons were removed from Belarus in 1996’, “How did it all end? It all ended with NATO expansion to the east and 2016 training of the scenario of a nuclear strike on Belarus on the initiative of the administration of the so-called Nobel Peace Prize laureate Barack Obama. Moreover, according to the plan of the drills, Belarus was not even involved in the conflict.”
