Lukashenko: Belarus ready for most intensive co-operation with Venezuela

The Republic of Belarus is ready for the most intensive co-operation with Venezuela – as noted by President Aleksandr Lukashenko during his today’s meeting with the Vice President for Planning and Minister for Planning of Venezuela, Ricardo Jose Menendez Prieto

Welcoming the guest, Aleksandr Lukashenko noted, “I am happy to meet you. We know each other for a long time. You know Belarus well. We started from scratch during the life of our mutual friend, Hugo Chavez. We have done a lot, and it is not our fault, it is not the fault of Belarus and Venezuela that there has been a certain pause in our relations. Our relationship has been in place, though not very intense. Fortunately, we have not lost the areas that were identified earlier in our co-operation. Moreover, the most important point that I would like to tell you is that we are ready for more intensive, the most intensive co-operation with Venezuela. You are aware of our capabilities, and you need them – including technologies, and and more. It is time to start.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko expressed hope that, during the current visit of the Vice President of Venezuela, the parties will determine what the restoration of bilateral co-operation should start with.

“I think we should involve the programmes that we previously defined. Everything is topical. Nicolas Maduro, the President of Venezuela, was present and actively participated in the formation of the programmes that have been preserved by now. I want to emphasise once again: everything that we proposed at that time, everything that we planned is in demand for Venezuela… Therefore, I think we need to conduct an audit of all our projects – add something or exclude the points that are irrelevant today from our action plans. We should update the roadmap that we jointly outlined earlier,” the Belarusian leader added.
