Lukashenko awarded Tertel, Kubrakov and Lappo for operation to detain Ukrainian special services’ terrorist in Belarus

The President began today's traditional ceremony of presentation of state awards and epaulettes to senior officers with an unexpected and pleasant moment: Aleksandr Lukashenko awarded the law enforcement agency heads for brilliantly conducting an operation to detain a terrorist of the Ukrainian special services and his accomplices involved in an attempt to sabotage an A-50 aircraft at the Machulishchi airfield on the territory of Belarus. In particular, KGB Chairman Ivan Tertel – who led the operation – was awarded the Order for Service to the Homeland 1st Class, while Interior Minister Ivan Kubrakov and Chairman of the State Border Committee Anatoly Lappo received Orders for Service to the Homeland 2nd Class.

“I ask and instruct you to bestow state awards upon all (even if there are thousands of them) our guys who carried out this operation and who took part in it, also rendering them financial, moral or other support when necessary. These guys should not be forgotten. You have done something that is beyond belief, and this will be included in the relevant textbooks. We should not forget such people,” Aleksandr Lukashenko addressed the awardees.

The President added, “Probably, this is a good gift for you: to women from men. You at least have some hope that we do not eat bread in vain, and that mothers did not give birth to them in vain.”
