Lukashenko appreciated contribution of State Authority for Military Industry organisations to strengthening Belarus’ national security

The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has congratulated the heads, employees and veterans of the State Authority for Military Industry organisations on the 20th anniversary of is establishment, the Belarusian leader’s press service reports

"Having gained independence in the early 1990s, Belarus began to create a new independent branch of the economy: the arms industry aimed to ensure the security and defence capability of the young sovereign state," the congratulatory message reads.

As noted by the President, the decision to establish the State Authority for Military Industry was an objectively necessary step in the conditions of those times. As a public administration body and in close co-operation with other law enforcement agencies, it was planned to develop the domestic military-industrial complex, improve the existing and create new models of weapons, military and special equipment.

Over two decades, Belarusian weapon producers have passed a difficult path: according to the Head of State, they began with mere modernisation of Soviet weapons and now create their own models. Belarusian weapons meet the highest modern standards, they are well known and enjoy demand in many regions of the world.

"I am convinced that the industry workers, realising the importance of their work for the preservation of peace in the Belarusian land, will continue to do everything possible within their own competencies so that our Armed Forces can not only restrain, but – if necessary – pacify any aggressor," the Head of State stressed.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wished the heads, employees and veterans of the State Authority for Military Industry organisations peace, health and well-being, also wishing new successes to the arms industry in its noble and responsible task of strengthening Belarus’ national security.
