The President of Belarus, Aleksandr Lukashenko, has made appointments in the structure of the Foreign Ministry and the Armed Forces, BelTA reports

Sergei Aleinik – who has worked as First Deputy Foreign Minister until now – will head Belarus’ Foreign Ministry, and Andrei Lukyanovich has been appointed Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence of the Armed Forces of Belarus (previously, he served as Deputy Commander of the Air Force and Air Defence – Chief of Aviation).

“Well, is it actually possible to appointed such people out of public view? So I have invited you to ensure that everything is done in the way it is customary in our state," the President said, greeting Sergei Aleinik and Andrei Lukyanovich.

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that he had discussed with them all the nuances of their future activities the day before, and then signed decrees on their appointment in their presence.

Mr. Aleinik thanked the Head of State for high trust. “It won't be an easy job," the Belarusian leader noted.

In turn, Mr. Lukyanovich replied in a military manner, “I serve the Republic of Belarus, Comrade Commander-in-Chief!"

“The situation is also not simple [in the Commander’s area of responsibility],” Aleksandr Lukashenko noted.
