Answering a question asked during an interview for a new book by the famous Italian journalist, Bruno Vespa, he said, “Maybe. Only if at some point Ukraine realised that it could no longer count on weapons and assistance, and if the West promised to provide hundreds of billions of Dollars to rebuild its cities ravaged by war. In this case, Zelenskyy could agree to sit down at the negotiating table.”

The publication, extracts from which have appeared in some media, will be released on November 4th.

The party leader also noted that, in the current situation, Italy can only be together ‘with the West in protecting the rights of such a free and democratic country as Ukraine’.

He spoke in favour of no longer discussing the issue of Russian ownership of Crimea and holding a new referendum on Donbass under the control of the West.
