Information Ministry: 812 journalists accredited to cover Presidential election in Belarus

The world's largest media gather to cover the Presidential election in Belarus, with a total of 812 journalists accredited to the Central Election Commission’s Information Centre, sb.by reports with reference to the Telegram channel of the Information Ministry

"Belarus’ Information Ministry has joined forces with the Interior Ministry to process applications for accreditation of journalists to work at the CEC Information Centre. In total, 481 representatives from 24 Belarusian media outlets and 331 journalists from 70 foreign media outlets have gained access to the Information Centre in the Palace of the Republic. Foreign media will be represented by major media outlets from 23 countries of Asia, Europe, Latin and North America, and the Middle East," the statement reads.

As reported, representatives of the Russian media have shown great interest – as is traditional. In addition, the world's leading media outlets — the BBC, Reuters (UK), Al Jazeera (Qatar), the Media Corporation of China (CCTV and CGTN), TASS, VGTRK (Russia), CNN, the Associated Press (the United States), and AFP (France) – have applied, and they will be joined by major regional media: TeleSUR (Venezuela), ZDF and ARD (Germany), EFE (Spain), and France Télévisions (France).

The grand opening of the Information Centre in the Palace of the Republic is scheduled for January 24th, and it will host press conferences and briefings by the leadership of the Central Election Commission and international observer missions on January 25th-27th.
