India announced $1.2bn+ investment in AI projects

Indian authorities have approved to earmark 103bn Rupees (more than $1.2bn) for projects related to artificial intelligence (AI), TASS reports

According to a press release from India’s Ministry of Communications, Electronics and Information Technology, the funds will be used over the next five years ‘to strengthen India’s AI innovation ecosystem’.

Thus, the Indian government plans to stimulate the development of computing infrastructure, the development of AI applications for the public sector, as well as the creation of startups in the field of AI.
