In Q1 2023, Belarus' gross external debt decreased by more than $2bn

The gross external debt of Belarus decreased by $2.1bn in the first quarter of this year to make $37.6bn as of April 1st, 2023, the National Bank reports

The main part of Belarus' external debt is represented by long-term liabilities (73.5 percebt), which indicates low risks in the field of external debt financing.

In relation to GDP, the external debt decreased from 54.3 percent at the beginning of the year to 50.5 percent by April 1st, while the external debt per capita decreased from $4,300 to $4,100, respectively.

The dynamics of indicators on external obligations indicates a decrease in the debt burden on the country’s economy.
