Hungary, Serbia signed memorandum to build oil pipeline that will connect with Druzhba

A memorandum on the construction of an oil pipeline, which is to be connected on Hungarian territory with the Druzhba oil pipeline, was signed by the authorities of Serbia and Hungary – as reported by RIA Novosti

A meeting of the Strategic Council for Co-operation between Belgrade and Budapest was held on Serbian territory in the village of Palic near the Hungarian border, attended by the presidents of the two countries, Aleksandar Vucic and Katalin Novak, as well as the prime ministers Ana Brnabic and Viktor Orban and government members.

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto and Serbian Energy Minister Dubravka Djedovic signed a memorandum of understanding on the construction of an oil pipeline.

in November 2022, Aleksandar Vucic confirmed plans to build an oil pipeline – a branch of the Druzhba – which runs through Hungary. Official Belgrade previously agreed on the construction of a 128km section of the pipeline with an estimated cost of 100m Euros. The section will be built between the Serbian city of Novi Sad and Algyo in Hungary near the border.

The Druzhba oil pipeline runs through Russia to the Belarusian city of Mozyr, and then branches into two branches: the northern one, towards Poland and Germany, and the southern one, through Ukraine, to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and Croatia.
