Opinion: Belarus can perfectly live and develop without US Dollar

The process of dedollarisation is in full swing in the post-Soviet space, and many countries do not really need the American currency already – as stated by a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, Sergei Klishevich, in his talk with Alfa Radio

During the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council session in Bishkek, Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that the era of the Dollar dominance is coming to an end, and this is clear to all. According to the Head of State, the future belongs to trading blocks, where settlements will be made in national currencies.

“Previously, we had to search for currency and buy it in order to pay for Russian energy resources, but there is no need for this now: we use Russian Roubles in our settlements with Moscow. Naturally, we do not really need Dollars. Russia has also seen what is happening with the American currency: it can be taken away or stolen at any moment," the deputy noted.

Mr. Klishevich added that the US Dollar is used these days as a lever of pressure on a particular state. “As practice has shown, we can perfectly survive – even not just survive, but develop and progress – without such a financial and economic mechanism as the American Dollar. It is not provided with any resources, it is provided by constant wars, conflicts and bloody struggles around the world," he explained, noting that the beginning of the end of the US currency prevalence has already begun.
