Golovchenko: serial production of twin-engine multi-purpose aircraft to start in Belarus

This was stated by Belarus’ Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko during the main strategic session, entitled Sustainable Production. Renewal Strategy, held as part of the 13th International Industrial Exhibition INNOPROM-2023

He recalled that the parties skilfully took advantage of the window of opportunity. Now the countries have agreed on the implementation of 17 investment import-substituting projects in machine building and microelectronics. This list remains open, and the work continues.

According to Roman Golovchenko, the Russian Federation faces very ambitious tasks, concerning the unique opportunity for the Russian aviation industry to restore lost positions and develop this area. He said that the Belarusian side is fulfilling a number of orders for the Russian aviation industry for the manufacture of parts, assembly units, and services.

“Having worked in this area and having better understood each other’s capabilities, we came to a joint decision that it is necessary to expand the horizons of this interaction, and today – within the framework of the exhibition – a comprehensive programme of co-operation between the Republic of Belarus and the Russian Federation in the field of aircraft manufacturing will be signed, which, undoubtedly, will give even greater impetus to this work,” Roman Golovchenko expressed confidence.

Moreover, Belarus’ PM informed the participants that the parties had decided to implement a joint project in Belarus to produce a twin-engine light multi-purpose aircraft.

According to the Head of the Council of Ministers, this important project will mark the transition of our country to the club of countries-aircraft manufacturers with the support of Russia.
