Golovchenko: Belarus grateful to Vietnamese leadership for willingness to co-operate in new geopolitical conditions

The Prime Minister recalled that countries now live in new geopolitical realities, “Literally before our eyes, the familiar system of international relations is being transformed into a new world order. New players are emerging and making themselves known in the international arena. The influence of regional organisations is growing, and all this is happening against the background of the recovery from the effects of the pandemic.”

Mr. Golovchenko noted with regret that dialogue and interaction are increasingly being replaced by threats and coercion in international relations. “You know that the Republic of Belarus, as well as our ally – the Russian Federation, is under severe external pressure, primarily related to our independent policy. However, we have overcome the most difficult stage, ensured the stability of our economy, the level of well-being of the population, successfully rebuilt and created new logistics chains for exports of our goods," he told the Prime Minister of Vietnam.

In particular, Mr. Golovchenko specified that the Belarusian economy is actively developing this year, “The growth rate of the gross domestic product reaches almost 104 percent at present. I would like to repeat that this is happening against the background of the unprecedented and illegitimate sanctions initiated by Western countries.”

The Prime Minister of Belarus stressed that, in many ways, it had become possible to overcome the negative impact of these factors on the economy and achieve results thanks to friends and partners – including Vietnam. “We are grateful to the Vietnamese leadership for their willingness to co-operate in new conditions and for striving to build and develop mutually beneficial relations with our country," Mr. Golovchenko emphasised.
