Glazyev: EAEU has everything to become self-sufficient pole of emerging multipolar world

The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) has everything to become a self-sufficient pole of the emerging multipolar world – as stated by Sergei Glazyev, Member of the Board – Minister in charge of Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC), at a round table discussion in the Federation Council dedicated to the issues of the Russian presidency of the EAEU in 2023, according to the EEC official website

Sergey Glaziev noted, “The Eurasian Economic Union – the starting stages of which occurred during a period of rapid growth of crisis phenomena in the world economy, which was formed as a universal tool for connecting and scaling the competitive advantages of the closest states of post-Soviet Eurasia – has proven its effectiveness and growth potential. In the context of unstable global markets and an unfavourable global political environment, timely and effective steps were taken in the EAEU, which contributed to the stabilisation of the macroeconomic situation in our countries and ensured sustainable positive dynamics in the development of key industries, supporting economic ties within the EAEU.”

He also stated that Eurasian economic integration is an efficient and flexible mechanism for counteracting escalating global problems: the degradation of the global economy, poverty, climate change, and resource shortages, including food, water, and energy.

“We have everything necessary to make the EAEU one of the independent and self-sufficient poles of the emerging multipolar world, a centre of gravity for states that share our values and strive for interaction,” noted the EEC Minister.
