Georgia generated record $4.1bn in tourism in 2023

Last year, Georgia's revenues from international tourism reached a record high of $4.1bn – 17.3 percent more than in 2022, TASS reports

According to the National Tourism Administration of Georgia, income from international tourism exceeded the level of [pre-pandemic] 2019 by 26.2 percent (by $856.7m) last year, and of 2022 – by 17.3 percent ($608.7m).

It is reported that 4,669,467 trips of foreign citizens to Georgia with tourist purposes were registered last year (27.8 percent more than in 2022). Non-residents of Georgia visited the country more than 7m times in 2023 (a growth of 30.3 percent).

In 2023, Russian citizens made the largest number of trips to Georgia: 1.4m+, which was 30.5 percent more than the previous year. Turks were next in line, with 1.3m trips – followed by Armenians (962,000) and Israelis (217,000).
