Genocide of the Belarusian People book presented at expo in Brasilia
The Embassy of Belarus in Brazil, as part of our country’s participation in the 37th Brazilian Book Fair, presented the Genocide of the Belarusian People book edited by Belarus’ Prosecutor General Andrei Shved. The publication includes reference, analytical and documentary materials about the genocide of the Belarusian people during the Great Patriotic War, in the post-war period and the use of Nazi ideology by participants in the coup attempt in Belarus in 2020 (based on evidence from criminal cases and archival sources).
As the Belarusian embassy told the sb.by portal, the presentation of the Genocide of the Belarusian People book has a positive effect on preserving the historical memory of the Great Patriotic War, drawing attention to the irreversible consequences of the genocide for our country, strengthening the ideas of peace among the Belarusian diaspora and their Brazilian family members. Moreover, the spread of objective information contributes to a positive perception of Belarus in the eyes of the wider foreign public of the host country, which is especially important in the context of the dominant pro-Western point of view in various media.
“The presentation of such a landmark book for Belarus aroused real interest among visitors to the book trade fair: Belarusians abroad, native Brazilians, primarily students, foreign guests and the diplomatic corps,” the embassy reported.
