Facebook obliged in Europe to obtain EU residents’ consent to collect their data for ads

Now Facebook in the European Union must not show users personalised ads without their consent – in line with the decision of the European Court of Justice, TASS reports

The judiciary stated that the use of data from third-party sites for advertising purposes is contrary to the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and is an ‘abuse of dominance’ by Meta in the social platform market.

The representatives of the court also underlined that the mere fact that a user visits sites or applications that may disclose personal information does not mean that they agree to share this data.
