Expert explains why Belarus is interested in African continent

Belarus’ political and economic leadership understands that it is necessary to supply goods and services to the African region now, because in the current situation it is this region that will produce the maximum rates of economic growth – as noted by Aleksei Avdonin, an analyst with the Belarusian Institute of Strategic Research (BISR), in his talk with ONT TV channel

According to Aleksei Avdonin, our leadership is very clearly aware of the global changes in the world economy that are happening now and will stretch over the next decade, “Everyone understands perfectly well that only Africa as a region has remained the point of [economic] growth on Earth. Labour costs in other regions, e.g. in China, are extremely high. But labour costs in Africa are low. Naturally, where will the key investments of corporations and banks go now? Of course, to the African region. They are the ones who will provide the maximum margin. It’s not for nothing that in early 2023, various global economic platforms began to make forecasts for the development of African countries. They indicate that it is South Africa and Central Africa that will provide the maximum rates of economic growth: from 7 to 9 percent. Such rates were observed at the dawn of China’s development as an industrial zone. Of course, in these conditions, Belarus understands that it needs to pick up this trend and extend it to its economy. This means that we will supply our goods and services there. Our labour resources will receive maximum profitability, meaning that a Belarusian will earn much more per unit of time than he earned, e.g., a decade ago. This is the main point.”
