Expert: economic relations between Belarus, Venezuela to be restored
Belarus intends to restore economic relations with Venezuela in the near future – as noted by a deputy of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly, Aleksandr Shpakovsky, in his talk with Alfa Radio
Mr. Shpakovsky congratulated the Venezuelan people and Nicolas Maduro on assuming the presidency of the country and noted that Belarus had firmly supported the legitimate government of Venezuela. “There is a certain recipe against any colour revolutions, and it was implemented. The government, which relies on significant public support, firmly pursued a policy of maintaining law and order, suppressing all attempts at anti-constitutional actions and not entering into any negotiations, especially with the mediation of external players who are always ready to render a so-called assistance. In fact, the support is immediately removed as soon as the victim state tries to rely on external advisers, and the overthrow of power follows. That did not happen in Venezuela,” the expert explained why a colour revolution attempt failed in the country.
The MP added that the turbulence around Venezuela will continue, “Its natural resources attract the global powers who use the economic pressure tools.”
Commenting on the relations between Belarus and Venezuela, Mr. Shpakovsky noted, “We hope the positive results achieved in Belarusian-Venezuelan relations in politics and economics during the reign of our great friend, like-minded Hugo Chavez, will be restored. Nicolas Maduro will pay a visit to Minsk in the near future, and the whole complex of the bilateral relations will be discussed in detail. While visiting Caracas, Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich conveyed certain proposals from the Belarusian side, and Venezuelans have a desire to co-operate. Our political relations have always remained warm and trusting, while the economic relations have deteriorated significantly due to the situation in Venezuela. They need to be restored, and we may probably need the help of our allies, the Russian Federation and the People's Republic of China, in realising this task.”
