Expert comments on record salaries in Belarus: citizens understand that the state takes care of them

Despite a strong sanctions pressure and the fact that many logistical ties have been broken, Belarus is demonstrating a record increase in salaries – as noted by the Deputy Chairperson of the Minsk City Executive Committee, Nadezhda Lazarevich, in her talk with Alfa Radio

Ms. Lazarevich said that, in addition to high wages, Belarusians enjoy good social packages and collective agreements, “There are probably no social benefits like in Belarus anywhere else. Our country supports large families, disabled people, and veterans. Not only the state, but also companies make serious payments to their employees. Pensions have been raised three times in Belarus over a year, and this indicates that our Government keeps its word to society. Belarusians understand that the state takes care of them, and they appreciate this very much. There are some difficulties, but we live and work to cope with them every day.”

As noted by the programme host, Vadim Shepet, Belarus’ authorities never refer to sanctions, the special military operation or other aspects when fulfilling their obligations to citizens.

“Moreover, Belarusians themselves are very attentive, taking responsibility for their duties and work. Therefore, we observe no failures in the work of our enterprises. In Belarus, everyone can find a job, and all those who wish to work can do this,” Ms. Lazarevich added.
