Exhibition as a step to museum creation

The Belt of Unity show at the Palace of Independence can become another step for creation of a museum of decorative and applied arts in Belarus – believes the Chairman of the Belarusian Union of Artists, Gleb Otchik

The exhibition – dedicated to the National Unity Day – presents folk crafts from all over the country. Mr. Otchik comments, “Art unites our people, different state structures and regions. This exhibition is very bright and I believe it’s the first impetus for creating a museum of decorative and applied arts in the Republic. The Belarusian Union of Artists hopes this will happen one day and I guess we’ll study this issue later again.”

In turn, the Director of the University of Culture Art Gallery, Marina Tatarevich, notes, “While working over the exhibition, we’ve tried to accent the unity of our decorative and applied arts as much as possible, also focusing on our regions’ uniqueness. It’s a great honour for me to supervise this large-scale project which helps develop my expertise.”
