CSTO’s peacekeeping exercise to be held in October in Kyrgyzstan

The exercise of the CSTO peacekeepers will be held in October in Kyrgyzstan, becoming the final stage of the Combat Brotherhood 2023 comprehensive exercise – as noted today during a briefing by Chief of the CSTO Joint Staff Anatoly Sidorov, BelTA reports

“At the final stage of joint training on the territory of the Kyrgyz Republic, it is planned to conduct a joint exercise with the CSTO peacekeeping forces Combat Brotherhood-2023. During the exercise, the tasks of post-conflict settlement in the crisis zone will be worked out: conducting a peacekeeping operation using the forces and means of the CSTO collective security system, and providing humanitarian assistance,” Anatoly Sidorov underlined.

According to him, practical actions envisage the implementation of the following tasks: the actions of the CSTO peacekeeping forces at checkpoints, the filtration point and the fulfilment of tasks jointly with the Emergencies Ministry at the reception point for victims; actions of peacekeepers’ units when escorting convoys and cargoes, when blocking and inspecting a populated area; escorting columns and assisting the Emergencies Ministry in providing humanitarian assistance.

The first stage of the Combat Brotherhood-2023 exercise will be held from September 1st-6th in Belarus at the Brestsky, Gozhsky, Domanovsky, Obuz-Lesnovsky, Chepelevo and Lesishche training grounds. Within its framework, the Interaction-2023 joint exercise will be held with the CSTO Collective Rapid Response Force; the Search-2023 special exercise – with forces and means of reconnaissance; the Echelon-2023 special exercise – with the forces and means of logistics for the CSTO troops (collective forces); and the Barrier-2023 special exercise – with the joint formation of radiation, chemical and biological protection and medical support of the CSTO.

Moreover, in response to current security challenges, from September 1st-6th, exercise to ensure nuclear and radiation safety of the population will be held in the Ostrovets District as part of the Skala-2023 special exercise of the rescue units of the CSTO member states.
