Europe may become top buyer of Russian LNG

Ivan Timonin, from Vygon Consulting, said Europe will buy the most liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Russia by the end of 2023, even despite the sanctions, RIA Novosti reports

“Despite the sanctions agenda, the largest increase in demand for Russian LNG in 2023 will be in the European region,” Mr. Timonin said.

He added that significant growth is expected from Belgium: supplies may grow from 4.2m tonnes in 2022 to 7.3m tonnes by the end of this year. In Spain, the growth will make 1.3m tonnes, reaching 4.9m tonnes. Turkiye is expected to register an increase from 0.2m to 1m tonnes.
