Eismont conveyed greetings of Belarus’ President to participants of firewood chopping championship

The press secretary of the President of Belarus, Natalya Eismont, has conveyed greetings on behalf of the Head of State, Aleksandr Lukashenko, to the participants of the wood chopping championship among the media, which is being held today in the Minsk Region at Lake Vyacha for the second year in a row, BelTA reports

"The mood is great, it is wonderful. I am very glad to meet with all of you here in a much broader format a year on. This is important, and we all understand it," Ms. Eismont said. “I think we should not get tired of thanking for the fact that it is getting increasingly harder around us, but we are again getting together – cutting wood for half a day, competing, having fun, and so on. It's really cool!"

Ms. Eismont conveyed huge greetings and good luck wishes to the participants and fans of the championship on behalf of the Head of State. She also extended words of gratitude to the Governor of the Minsk Region, Aleksandr Turchin, the Regional Executive Committee and the Forestry for the ‘awesome organisation’ of the event. “Anyone who was shown photos yesterday – I also saw them – tuned into the atmosphere. I have just told him [the Governor]: ‘where else could you imagine such an organisation and such an atmosphere at the firewood chopping championship!’ The Minsk Regional Executive Committee has really done its best and is sincere in all its work,” Ms. Eismont added.

As it is known, Aleksandr Lukashenko is in favour of a healthy lifestyle. Sports form an integral part of his daily schedule, and these are not just classical but also the most popular physical exercises – i.e. chopping firewood. The Head of State is well acquainted with this from his young age.

Since recently, the President's initiative has been promoted by the media representatives, and on November 7th, 2022, the first firewood chopping championship among journalists took place at Lake Vyacha near Minsk. Aleksandr Lukashenko also took part, offering a master class for the participants: i.e. he demonstrated how it is possible to cut a large deck with an axe and a sledgehammer.

The event then took place in a warm, friendly atmosphere and really etched into the soul. It was decided to make the championship an annual event. This year, the number of participating teams has increased, the programme of the event has expanded.
