Cuban Ambassador: we can liaise more actively in economic sphere with fraternal Belarus

Vladimir Andreichenko, the Chairman of the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus, has met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Cuba to Belarus Santiago Perez Benitez. During the meeting, the Ambassador expressed the opinion that Belarus and Cuba have an objective potential for developing relations.

“The forthcoming visit of the President of the National Assembly of People’s Power of Cuba to Belarus, and I always emphasise, to fraternal Belarus, shows that we boast excellent bilateral relations, including with the Parliament. In the difficult situation of sanctions pressure in which both Cuba and Belarus find themselves, it is very important to communicate and interact in the political and economic spheres.”

At the same time, the Ambassador stressed that we are able to interact more actively specifically in the economic area.

“There is an objective potential for the development of our relations. It was, is and will be, despite the sanctions. Sanctions sometimes force our entrepreneurs to better look for opportunities, e.g., in healthcare, as well as in the field of repair of Belarusian equipment. I always give a figure that there are about 70,000 MTZ tractors in Cuba that need to be serviced. And that’s just tractors. But there are still MAZ vehicles, so the potential is great.”
