Collective Security Treaty Organisation has commented on the idea – discussed by some Western countries – of sending troops to Ukraine
“If European military contingents are deployed to Ukraine, new security risks will inevitably arise in the region. This cannot but worry some member states of the organisation, and the organisation itself,” CSTO spokeswoman Natalia Kharitonova said.
In particular, she noted that, in case of such risks, the organisation is ready to offer various options for assistance to the country that requests such help. “Options for such assistance, if requested, will be offered only in full compliance with the CSTO charter documents and in accordance with the decisions of the Collective Security Council of the Collective Security Treaty Organisation,” Ms. Kharitonova explained.
