CIS foreign ministries discussed arms control in Minsk
Foreign ministry representatives gathered at CIS Headquarters in Minsk to discuss the issues of arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation. As reported by the CIS Executive Committee, the meeting was attended by officials from Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and the CIS Executive Committee.
As informed, the meeting participants exchanged views on a wide range of issues of arms control, disarmament and non-proliferation, including the problems of nuclear disarmament, prevention of an arms race in outer space, co-operation with the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons, biological security, the OSCE military-political dimension, and control over conventional armaments in Europe.
According to the CIS Executive Committee’s press service, the consultations made it possible to outline ways to further develop co-operation between the CIS member states in the field of arms control, disarmament and non–proliferation.
