Chupris: the topic of improving national security system acquiring special meaning

This was stated by Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Olga Chupris during the 3rd international scientific and practical conference, entitled Main Directions for Improving the National Security System

“In the context of a difficult international situation and escalating tensions in certain regions, this topic is acquiring a special significance. It affects almost every sovereign state, and the Republic of Belarus is no exception. Our President has repeatedly underlined that Belarusian policy has always been and will be peace-loving. However, we’re forced to respond to internal and external threats, including at the legislative level,” noted Olga Chupris. “The legal basis for ensuring national security is the Constitution of Belarus in its updated version, where the issues of protecting the constitutional system, state symbols, perpetuating memory and truth were enshrined. A range of norms are dedicated to maintaining political stability in the country.”

She also said that over the past two years, about 90 legislative acts have been adopted on issues of ensuring national security, “Citizens of our country took an active part in the preparation of many documents. This once again underlines the interest of Belarusian citizens in ensuring stability and tranquillity in our state. Close attention to the issues of protecting the country from internal and external threats is also given in the recently adopted Concept of National Legal Policy. According to it, national security is one of the key ideological imperatives on which all other provisions of the concept are based. The preparation of this act is synchronised with the development of the draft of the new National Security Concept. After the concept is approved by the Belarusian People’s Congress, the norms of this document will be effectively applied, complementing each other. Meanwhile, the work will not be completed here; in modern realities, public relations are developing rapidly, with new challenges and threats arising every day. Taking them into account, the legal tools are expanding and sharpening, because – as the President says – we must be prepared for anything.”

According to the Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration, the conference is an excellent platform for developing new ideas and discussing problematic issues of national security.
