China warns US against interfering in its internal affairs

The People’s Republic of China will take actions to protect its sovereignty and national interests if the US interferes in its internal affairs. This intention was announced by Yang Jiechi, Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, during a telephone conversation with the US President’s National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, RIA Novosti reports citing the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

According to Yang Jiechi, recently Washington allowed itself ‘incorrect actions and statements’ by interfering in China’s internal affairs.

“China will take firm actions to safeguard its sovereignty and security interests, and we will turn our words into reality,” the politician said.

He stressed that the Taiwan issue is the most important and sensitive issue in Chinese-US relations, and if the United States insists on playing the ‘Taiwan card’ and goes further down the wrong path, it could lead to dangerous consequences.

“We urge America to grasp the situation, strictly honour its commitments and abide by the one-China principle and the stipulations of the three China-US joint communiques,” added Mr. Jiechi.
