China to transfer $3.7bn in aid to Central Asia
Chinese authorities will provide $3.7bn in aid to Central Asia – as stated by Chinese President Xi Jinping at the China-Central Asia Summit in Xian, RIA Novosti reports
Xi Jinping added that China will create a plan for scientific and technical co-operation with Central Asia in the fight against poverty, and will also encourage Chinese companies that have business in Central Asia to create more jobs in the region.
The China-Central Asia Summit is being held in Xian on May 18th-19th under the chairmanship of Xi Jinping. Presidents Kassym-Jomart Tokayev (Kazakhstan), Sadyr Japarov (Kyrgyzstan), Emomali Rahmon (Tajikistan), Shavkat Mirziyoyev (Uzbekistan) and Serdar Berdimuhamedov (Turkmenistan) are also taking part in the event.
