China’s Zhejiang Province looks to produce over 1.2m new energy vehicles by 2025

China’s Zhejiang Province has released an action plan to stimulate the development of its new energy automobile industry. According to plans, Zhejiang’s annual output of new energy vehicles will exceed 1.2 million by 2025, accounting for over 60 percent of the province’s total automobile production, Xinhua reports.

The Zhejiang provincial government intends to develop a number of leading enterprises in the production of new energy vehicles (NEV), support them in optimising the production structure and increase the supply of high-end NEVs.

On the other hand, the provincial government will also accelerate the establishment of the locally produced NEV brand and support competitive enterprises to develop overseas markets. The province will aim to export over 200,000 NEVs by 2025.

According to the document, by 2025, over 100,000 charging units in public areas will be built in this Chinese region.
