Centurion vehicles transferred to troops

The supply of command and staff vehicles – meeting all modern requirements in the field of automation of fire control of artillery units – continues as part of the fulfilment of the state defenсe order

On the premises of the 25th arsenal, a solemn ceremony was held for the transfer of another batch of military equipment to the Armed Forces by the manufacturer – which is part of the State Authority for Military Industry of Belarus. These include eight modernised command and staff vehicles of an automated fire control complex of an artillery battalion.

The equipment – designed for arming the artillery groups of mechanised brigades – was presented by the Commander of the Missile Troops and Artillery – Head of the Missile Troops and Artillery Division of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Gennady Kozlovsky and the director of the manufacturer, which is part of the State Authority for Military Industry system, Nikolai Baligatov.

The modern automated complex was created by specialists of enterprises of one of the holdings in the system of the State Authority for Military Industry of Belarus. Their work is based on new domestic technical achievements and unique software solutions.

In the course of deep modernisation, engineers left only a tracked chassis from the basic time-tested command and staff vehicle. The technical equipment of command control vehicles was almost completely replaced with high-tech components of domestic production.

The vehicles are equipped with modern means of communication and data transmission, reconnaissance equipment, as well as navigation and orientation systems, an autonomous power supply system.

Moreover, a group of programmers from one of the holding companies created unique software Centurion – fundamentally new protocols for information and technical interfacing were written, special application software and software for monitoring the operation of technical means were created.

At the same time, in case of a digital system failure in a combat situation, the developers did not exclude from the composition of the command and staff vehicles the appropriate devices and technical means, enabling to solve the tasks of preparing and controlling the fire of an artillery formation via traditional methods.

Practical testing of Centurion vehicles on a training ground has shown that their use enables the commander to significantly reduce time for decision-making on the use of weapons, thus expanding the combat capabilities of artillery units in the operational solution of assigned tasks.
