Bryansk Region Governor: for me, Belarus means the good past and the good present

The Alexandria Gathers Friends festival is being held today in the Shklov District, on the banks of the Dnieper River. The republican holiday has gathered representatives of twenty Russian regions this year, and among them is the Governor of the Bryansk Region, Aleksandr Bogomaz.

“This is not my first time in Alexandria. The holiday is large-scale, and it is extending every new year. Alexandria is gathering an increasing number of friends. Today, the Belarusian and Russian youth are present here, and I always remember (these are very kind memories) how young people communicated at the trilateral holiday: Day of Slavic Friendship of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine – discussing their problems and sharing the vision of how they will develop their countries,” Mr. Bogomaz shared his impressions.

Speaking of what Belarus means for him, the Bryansk Region Governor noted, “For me, Belarus is the good past and the good present, it means kind flashbacks. My uncle and my cousin live in Gomel, and I have many friends here. Our peoples have always treated each other with kindness, and this has preserved. At all levels – including ordinary citizens and the President – our people have maintained a respectful attitude towards each other, understanding that we need each other and can achieve great success together. Last year showed it, and this can also be confirmed by the economy. In 2022, our trade turnover with the Republic of Belarus, including the Mogilev Region, grew, and it is growing this year as well.”

Mr. Bogomaz expressed confidence that everything will be fine in relations between Belarus and Russia, “We should primarily understand that we cannot forget the past, because there is no present without it. Meanwhile, we are building our present, and I believe we will succeed.”
