BelGee plans to double car sales in Belarus in 2023

The Belarusian-Chinese BelGee CJSC (located in the Borisov District of the Minsk Region) plans to sell 9,500 cars on the domestic market in 2023 – twice as much compared to 2022 – as reported by the Belarusian Industry Ministry’s press service

The company is actively developing: the share of sales of new cars in the Belarusian market has been increased from 10 percent to 75 percent. As previously reported, in 2023, BelGee will retain the distribution of product supplies: 20 percent for the domestic market and 80 percent for exports.

In 2022, the enterprise planned to produce and sell 37,000 cars (plus 23.3 percent compared to 2021), but at the end of the year the figure turned out to be much lower: 24,833 cars. At the same time, it was noted that the drop in BelGee production in 2022 was due to the impact of Western sanctions against Belarus, since some of the components were supplied from the EU member states.

Reference. The Belarusian-Chinese BelGee CJSC, which produces cars under the Geely brand, was established in 2011. In February 2013, the first car was assembled at the enterprise. In November 2017, the BelGee company opened a small-knot assembly plant for cars in the Borisov District of the Minsk Region. A Chinese loan worth $158.7m was allocated to implement the project. The total investment is about 400m. Currently, the plant produces crossovers Geely Atlas, Geely Atlas Pro, Emgrand X7 New, Coolray, Geely Emgrand 7 New sedan and Geely GS cross hatchback. There are also plans to start production of electric vehicles.
