Belarusian Railways increased container shipments to China 6.5-fold in 2022
In 2022, the Belarusian Railways continued to work on creating the necessary conditions for increasing the volume of container shipment of Belarusian products, and the Chinese market was of strategic importance, the Belarusian Railways’ press service reports
In 2022, the Belarusian Railways transported 988 container trains with Belarusian products to China. According to the preliminary estimates, the volume of export cargo transportation by container trains made about 120,000 loaded containers in TEU (20-foot equivalent), which was 6.5 times more than in 2021. Most exports included products of woodworking enterprises, fertilisers and food.
The development of export transportation and promotion of Belarusian products to foreign markets are the most important strategic directions for the Belarusian Railways.
Thanks to effective interaction with all participants of the transport services market and business contacts, Belarusian products are delivered to the People's Republic of China within two weeks – to railway stations and further by motor transport to any location in the country, including ‘the last mile’ service.
As noted by the press service, in 2023, special attention will be paid to further development of export transportation of Belarusian products to foreign markets, primarily to China and the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
