A set of measures to provide humanitarian assistance to Pakistan to combat the consequences of floods on behalf of President Aleksandr Lukashenko was organised in the shortest possible time.

Earlier it was reported that Belarus, within the framework of gratuitous assistance, will donate gasoline pumping units, a diesel generator, tents, bedding, medicines, clothes for adults and children to the government of Pakistan. The total weight of this cargo is about 27.5 tonnes, and its cost is estimated at Br920,000.

The Emergencies Ministry said that the tasks of escorting and transferring humanitarian cargo would be performed by the Deputy Emergencies Minister Igor Bolotov. It is planned that upon arrival in the capital of Pakistan, he will also hold working meetings with officials of the host country.

It is underlined that in addition to the Emergencies Ministry, the Healthcare Ministry, the Minsk Regional Executive Committee and the Bellegprom Concern took part in the formation of the cargo.

Belarus is an active participant in the emergency humanitarian response. Since 1999, 77 humanitarian missions have been organised to provide assistance to 33 countries. Moreover, the Zubr Republican Special Forces Detachment of the Emergencies Ministry is certified according to UN standards as an international search and rescue detachment.
