Belarusian food industry successfully mastered far-arc markets in 2024
In 2024, enterprises of the Belarusian food industry continued to successfully explore the far-arc markets, for the first time supplying their products to Afghanistan, Jordan, Bahrain, the Philippines, Brazil, Cuba, and Chile – as noted by the Deputy Chairman of Belgospishcheprom Concern, Aleksandr Yakovchits, at a recent meeting of the board, which focused on the results of last year and plans for 2025, sb.by reports with reference to Belgospishcheprom
Belgospishcheprom Chairman Oleg Zhidkov said that the year 2024 was not simple for the branch, and the Government has set no less stressful tasks for 2025 as well. “At the current stage, it is necessary to understand what results look promising, and what we should pay close attention to in Q1. The concern is taking all possible measures to support enterprises and create favourable working conditions for them," he stressed.
Belgospishcheprom’s work in 2024 was recognised as effective at the meeting. “The growth rate of product sales revenue made 112 percent, and the investment activity rate stood at 133.7 percent (at comparable prices against 2023). The nominal average monthly salary at the concern’s enterprises increased by 16.4 percent, and real wages grew by 10.1 percent,” Deputy Chairman Aleksandr Kizhuk reported.
Belgospishcheprom enterprises met almost all export-related tasks last year, and their sales abroad increased by 11.2 percent (1.5 times over the past five years).
"Regarding the results of 2024, we can say with confidence that the year was successful for Belgospishcheprom. Geographically, our export portfolio is represented by 53 countries, and the far-arc markets are in the focus: since 2019, exports there have increased more than fivefold," Mr. Yakovchits said. “We are actively increasing supplies to China and the Middle East, successfully exploring the African market as well. In 2024, our products were sold to Morocco, South Africa, Ghana, Guinea-Bissau, Ethiopia, and Equatorial Guinea. New markets include Afghanistan, Jordan, Bahrain, the Philippines, Brazil, Cuba, and Chile."
This year, Belarus’ food industry companies will also focus on the African continent, and experts believe the existing commodity distribution schemes – such as marketplaces and direct deliveries to retail chains, for example – will contribute to the subsequent growth of export volumes.
