Belarus, Uruguay discussed mutual visa cancellation

The Ambassador of Belarus to Brazil and Uruguay, Sergei Lukashevich, presented copies of credentials to the First Deputy Foreign Minister of Uruguay, Nicolas Albertoni, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry reports

During the meeting, the parties discussed the need to expand political and economic co-operation between Belarus and Uruguay, outlining the main directions for the development of trade and economic co-operation, the implementation of the legal framework.

"In the near future, the countries plan to sign an agreement on the mutual abolition of visas for holders of national passports," the Foreign Ministry’s press service informed.

Belarus and Uruguay are long-standing partners. In 2022, the countries celebrated the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Over the past three decades, Belarus has been building constructive relations with the Uruguayan side, based on trade and the economy. Since 2013, the Honorary Consul of the republic, ethnic Belarusian Sebastian Asis Andreyuk, has been working in Uruguay.
