Belarus follows its own path – thus irritating the West

The West is annoyed that Belarus has its own opinion, its own path of development, and a strong leader – as stated by Nadezhda Lazarevich, the Deputy Chairperson of the Minsk City Executive Committee, during her talk with Alfa Radio

Commenting on why the ads provoking Belarusians to destructive actions are being posted in social networks and public sites, Ms. Lazarevich stressed, “Belarus is going along its own path, thus irritating [the West] by the fact that we have our own opinion and that we defend it in the form of the adoption of the draft Constitution. In addition, Aleksandr Lukashenko is very active in expressing his point of view – not being afraid and even more irritating our opponents.”

Mr. Lazarevich stressed that the West is allocating funds in a wrong way. “It's a pity that they are spending money on wrong purposes. There is a lack of products, and France, for example, is introducing food vouchers... They would rather direct these resources to more important things than distributing unnecessary information in the form of fakes and accusations of Belarus for what it is not doing,” she said.

According to the Deputy Chairperson of the Minsk City Executive Committee, it is now more important for the West to destabilise the situation in Belarus and morally suppress its citizens. But they will not succeed, the expert concluded.
